Artist Biography: Born in Amsterdam in 1519 (BÈnÈzit says 1519 or 1522). Traveled in Spain and Portugal, after 1545 in Haarlem, 1568-1572 in Cleve and Xanten, 1577-1587 in Haarlem. Died in Gouda on 29 October 1590.Teacher of Henrik Goltzius and Philip Galle.~~Reference: Hollstein, Volume IV, pp. 227 ff.~
