Artist Biography: Byname LO SPAGNOLETTO (Italian: "The Little Spaniard") Painter and printmaker, baptized 17 February 1591. Worked in Rome, leaving for Naples after the death of Caravaggio. Signature "HSP RBA" on several prints for "Hispanus Jusepe de Ribera". ~ ~Notable for his Baroque dramatic realism and depictions of religious and mythological subjects. ~ ~~~Reference: Bartsch, Adam.
