Artist Biography: Born Henri Gaudier on 4 October 1891 in St.-Jean-de-Braye, near Orleans, to French/Polish parents.Worked as a sculptor in Paris from 1910, where he met Sophie Brzeska. From 1910 on both he and she used the hyphenated name Gaudier-Brzeska. Moved to London in 1911. Member of the Vorticist group. Enlisted in the French army in 1914 and was killed at Neuville-Saint-Vaast on 5 June 1915. Memorials held in England.
