Artist Biography: Born 1802 in Perth, Scotland.Co-founder of Royal Scottish Academy. Portraitist and photographer from 1843. Worked with Robert Adamson from 1843-1847. Published One Hundred Calotype Sketches in 1848. Returns to painting also. From 1862 worked with A. MacGlashon in collodion process. Died 1870 in Edinburgh .
