Artist Biography: Swedish painter and photographer who, in his efforts to elevate photography to the status of an art, made photographs in imitation of paintings of the day. Settled in England in 1840 as a portrait painter. Learned photography 1852. 1855 studio in Wolverhampton. 1860 settled in London. ~
