Artist Biography: Painter and etcher active in Venice and Mantua, born Verona 1524, died 1606. Studied with his father and NiccolÚ Golfino, painted in circle of Veronese. Sons Orazio and Giovanni Battista, and daughter Vittoria also became painters. A snail shell shape appears as a device in all of his prints as well as those of Orazio.
