Artist Biography: Also known as giambattista de Cavaleriis. Born in Lagertale in 1525, died at Rome 23 July 1601. Engraver and etcher, leaving his native Trent for Rome in about 1550. Worked in the circles of Sanuto and Cartaro, copying the style of Raimondi. His most famous work was a reproduction of the drawings of Antonio Dosi's illustrations for the Urbis Romae aedificorum illustrium quae supersunt reliquie (1569).~~Reference: LeBlanc, Charles.
