Artist Biography: Name spelled various ways.Born in Franeker ca. 1625. Died in Germany after 1675.Active in Dordrecht and Amsterdam ca. 1648-1649 and possibly in the 1650*s. Court painter to Johann Georg II of Saxony 1662-1675. Hollstein calls him *Imitator of Hercules Seghers* and notes he was influenced by Rembrandt.Nicknamed *The Young Hercules.* ~~Reference: Hollstein, Volume XX, pp. 145 ff.~The Illustrated Bartsch,Volume 2, p. 81~
