Artist Biography: Engraver, goldsmith, printer and publisher, born in Troyes, and went to Rome in June 1585 initially to work as a goldsmith. Began working in Duchet's studio, engraving in the manner of Cornelis Cort. Re-engraved the plates of others and made engravings after (among others) Tempesta, Passari (one of his teachers), and Alberti. Took over Duchet's shop with Jean Turpin after the death of Duchet's immediate successor, Jacques Guerard. Died in Rome in 1622. Said to be the teacher of Callot. See: Bohlin, Diane DeGrazia.
