Artist Biography: Riesener studied with his father, Henri-Franc,ois Riesener, and Baron Antoine-Jean Gros. The cousin of Eugene Delacroix, Riesener was greatly influenced by his illustrious relative. He exhibited at the Salon from 1833 to 1878. He was awarded the Legion of Honor in 1873. Riesener was praised as a brilliant colorist and forceful draftsman.
