Artist Biography: Born Liege 1729; died Paris 1776. Flemish school. Pensioner of Louis XV, and a member of the Academy of Paris in 1764. He was the inventor of a new mode of soft-ground etching, imitating sanguine crayon drawing, and executed many works after Boucher, Cochin and Huet.
