Artist Biography: (none) PROVENANCE: "Collected on La Korrigane Expeidition, 1935 (D.39.3/911). The purchase prices was a cotton loincloth, or lap lap in Melanesian Pidgin." (Catalog #259, New Guinea Art: Masterpieces from the Jolika Collection of Marcia and John Friede, 2005, Volume 2, p. 123.) PUBLICATIONS: 2005 - "The two birds probably represent the Gandju birds born by the mythological Mother of the Sepik, Shotkaman-Agwi. See pl. 150. The Chambri name is from the archives of the expedition."
