Artist Biography: (none) PROVENANCE: "Harry Franklin Collection, Beverly Hills." (Catalog #73, New Guinea Art: Masterpieces from the Jolika Collection of Marcia and John Friede, 2005, Volume 2, p. 94.) PUBLICATIONS: 2005 - "The last time the mask was repainted, which was probably in the 1940s, the artist apparently used military battleship paint. As with another old piece in the collection, this would have significantly enhanced the power of the mask. There is a similar mask in the Nationalmuseet, Copenhagen, except that the flying fox is on the nose, not on the forehead." (Catalog #73, New Guinea Art: Masterpieces from the Jolika Collection of Marcia and John Friede, 2005, Volume 2, p. 94.)
