Artist Biography: (none) PROVENANCE: Jolika Collection of New Guinea Art PUBLICATIONS: 2005 - "Betel mortars can be very old. Younger men, who customarily inherit them from their maternal uncles, use their teeth to crack betel nuts until late in life. Only then, and in certain ceremonies, are they said to use the mortars."
