Actively involved in civil rights movement and opposition to Vietnam War. Defines himself as a "critical artist," or more simply, a concerned human being.~~A twenty-five-year body of work speaks to issues of a shrinking global village, where ethnic and national boundaries have begun to warp. Garcia~uses borrowed imagery, quotation, and juxtaposition of image and text as part of his strategy for critique and resistance.
