Artist Biography: (none) PROVENANCE: Jolika Collection of New Guinea Art PUBLICATIONS: 2005 - "The object is too lightweight to be a weapon and may have served as a dance wand. For comparison, see a "dance club" from the Kerewo (Kerewa) area (Newton, 1961, fig. 147) and a "dance staff" from the "Delta area" (ibid., 53, fig. 104). The knob at the top is probably for the attachment of cassowary plumes." (Catalog #474, New Guinea Art: Masterpieces from the Jolika Collection of Marcia and John Friede, 2005, Volume 2, p. 164.)
