Artist Biography: (none) PROVENANCE: "Collected by Haber. Linden-Museum, Stuttgart (IC 83878, L 1245/38)." (Catalog #27, New Guinea Art: Masterpieces from the Jolika Collection of Marcia and John Friede, 2005, Volume 2, p. 87.) PUBLICATIONS: 2005 - "The mask is identified on the back by being from Suain, and it was one of the first objects to enter the collection. A related mask, also with a nose rising from the forehead and terminating in a bird's head, is in the Etnografisch Museum, Antwerp (de Grunne 1979, no. 6.11). The Linden-Museum has another example (Heermann, 1983, fig. B75), which is said to come from Suain (Sumain)."
