PUBLICATIONS: 2005 - "I believe this is the best of the Abelam daggers collected by Anthony Forge. The principal motif is an ngwalndu face, with a body composed of a leaf motif. The condyles are open-work representations of a parrot head and a lizard representing wala, a mythological spirit associated with conception (Noel Mc Guigan, personal communication). This dagger and the next three were used for display in initiation and other ceremonial occasions, not for war (Hauser-Schäublin, 1989: 117)."
