Artist Biography: (none) PROVENANCE: "Harry Beasley Collection, West Abby, Kent; Pierre Langlois Collection, Paris." (Catalog #194, New Guinea Art: Masterpieces from the Jolika Collection of Marcia and John Friede, 2005, Volume 2, p. 114.) PUBLICATIONS: 2005 - "Lime spatulas were regarded as symbols of masculinity. Upon initiation, a boy was given his spatula by his maternal uncle. Some, like this one, had grooves on the shaft and were used to make aggressive noise during ceremonies. Our friend Emile Bouchard alerted us to buy this spatula from Pierre Langlois."
