PROVENANCE: Jolika Collection of New Guinea Art
PUBLICATIONS: 2005 - "The pendant "cut and shaped by heating" (Moore, 1989: 43) and "perforated at the end for suspension" (Haddon, 1894: 34) served as a beauty amulet and was worn as part of a bridal outfit. The motifs combine a stylized ray fish and a double fishhook. Haddon, 1912, pl. xi, no. 1 illustrates a very similar pendant in the Bristish Museum.
