Artist Biography: (none) PROVENANCE: Jolika Collection of New Guinea Art PUBLICATIONS: 2005 - "This figure has extraordinary presence and aggressive power. I know only one other cult figure which has separate hooks attached to the feet. It is in the Otago Museum, Dunedin, New Zealand, and is published in Kaeppler, Kaufmann, and Newton, 1993, no. 595. As I have stated elsewhere, these Carbon-14 readings clearly call for a broader dating project, including museum pieces, to reveal more information about early Sepik history." (Catalog #232, New Guinea Art: Masterpieces from the Jolika Collection of Marcia and John Friede, 2005, Volume 2, p. 119.)
