PUBLICATIONS: 2005 - "This drum is made of a type of wood, garamut wood, or miambra, which is the region's hardest and most resistent to insects. it has deeply carved perforations which relate to those on the ancient suspension hook from Nyaurengai (see pl. 153). The drum takes the form of a hand drum, or kundu, but it is much too heavy for that purpose. An interesting aspect of the iconography is that the male figure is shown about to copulate with a vagina carved into its sounding board. The male figure is flanked by fish carvings, probably catfish, on both sides, which may have served as handles to carry the drum." 1971 - Stöhr, 1971, fig. 120.
