Artist Biography: (none) PROVENANCE: "Königlichen Museum für Völkerkunde, Berlin; Arthur Speyer Collection, Eltville, Germany; Ralph Nash Collection, London." (Catalog #59, New Guinea Art: Masterpieces from the Jolika Collection of Marcia and John Friede, 2005, Volume 2, p. 92.) PUBLICATIONS: 2005 - "These mortars were traded from Manam Island, to Murik to the west, and the Ramu coast to the east. Others were made locally by the Murik, Kaian, and Bosman people. This is a very early example." (Catalog #59, New Guinea Art: Masterpieces from the Jolika Collection of Marcia and John Friede, 2005, Volume 2, p. 92.)
