Artist Biography: (none) PROVENANCE: Jolika Collection of New Guinea Art PUBLICATIONS: 2005 - "There is a hole for suspension behind this figure. Another small female figure with a suspension hole was in the Philip Goldman Collection, London (Burland, 1973, pl. 76). However, that figure appears to be a 'prisoner,' with her arms tied behind her back. Both objects may have been suspended, along with birds and other totemic figures, under the eaves of the spirit house, attached to the plaited part below the lintel." (Catalog #295, New Guinea Art: Masterpieces from the Jolika Collection of Marcia and John Friede, 2005, Volume 2, p. 131.)
