Artist Biography: Born 1854 in Kladno, Bohemia, a town northwest of Prague in what is now the Czech Republic.Emigrated to U.S. 1874. Moved to California l886. Settled in Alameda. Studio in San Francisco until the earthquake and fire of 1906. Worked mostly in watercolors. Some early works signed *H. Fischer*. Died in Alameda 26 Nov. 1916. Father of Harrison Fisher and Hugo Melville Fisher, neither of whom had children.(See Hughes, p. 182)
