Artist Biography: Born 1847 in Ribeauville, Alsace. Emigrated at age 6 (1853). Lived in Cincinnati in early years. 1867 worked for Harper Bros., New York as an illustrator.Employed by Henri Regnault in Europe. Returned to U.S. in 1870. Died in New York 24 December 1916.
