Artist Biography: Born 21 June 1867 in Prenzlau, Prussia (Germany). Studied primarily architecture and building design in Hanover, Elberfeld and Berlin. Emigrated ca. 1892 to US and practiced architecture in Chicago and New York for about twenty years until he began to paint seriously under the influence of Alfred Stieglitz. Worked in New Jersey and then South Braintree, Massachusetts. Committed suicide on 12 January 1938.
