Artist Biography: Born 1859 in Cleveland, Ohio. Studied at Art Institute of Chicago. After five years of business life, devoted himself to drawing. Traveled widely in America and Mexico. Made drawings of Heber R. Bishop collection of jades, etc. for Metropolitan Museum, then spent five years in Europe. Ill health forced him to move to Denver; from there he explored Arizona and southern California. Made his first etching in 1871; best work is of the desert. Died in Phoenix, Arizona in 1939. Burr did his own printing.
