Artist Biography: Born in England 1787?, died in New York in 1844. Came to New York in 1816 as a painter of landscape in watercolors and a draftsman for engravers. Worked in aquatint; produced views for magazines. In 1827 was made an Associate of National Academy of Design, Academician in 1828; for some years was curator of the academy; See: Stauffer and Fielding, American Engravers on Copper and Steel
