Artist Biography: James Jacques Joseph Tissot. Born in Nantes 15 October 1836. Lived in St. Johns Wood, London after the Franco-Prussian War. After 1889 became very religious, spent ten years in Palestine, and died in the abbey of Buillon 8 August 1902.~~Reference: Wentworth, Michael Justin.
