Artist Biography: painter; born in New Jersey as son of Mary Robertson Bradbury and John Galen Howard; he moved with his family to California in 1902; majored in journalism at UC Berkeley, before turning to art; remained self taught artist ; although he spent most of time in New York and London, he made numerous visits to California to visit his family and have exhibitions of his work;
